MASHitUP

20 08 2008

Berlin dj/producer Shir Khan sent over this big rolling remix of the track ‘Mash It Up’ from London electro clowns The Young Punx and it should go down very well in the club. It’s already out in Japan and gets a twelve inch release in the UK through MofoHiFi Records at the end of September, it’ll also be available digitally at Beatport.

mp3: the young punx - mashitup (shir khan rmx).

ELECTRIC BALLROOM

20 08 2008

Malente has sent his club bangin remix of the track ‘Electric Ballroom’ from UK five piece Foals out to the blogs because for some reason it didn’t get included on the official release. Make sure to bookmark the ever impressive Berlin Battery for a weekly Malente re-edit.

mp3: foals - electric ballroom (malente remix).

KILLIN EM REMIX

20 08 2008

Sorry for the unexpected abscence we’ve been on important business, that ’we could tell you but then we’d have to kill you’ kind of thing. Anyway, here’s a bouncy fresh remix from Big Dada’s hottest new signing XRABIT + DMG$ (aka Berlin born/London living producer Xrabit and Andre 3000 obsessed Texan MCs Damaged Goods). ‘Killin Em’ is the debut twelve inch and look out for much more in the coming months.

mp3: xrabit + dmg$ - killin ‘em (xrabit remix).

FASHEN TRACK + MIX

13 08 2008

If you’ve been to Disneyland you might have gone on the ‘It’s a Small World’ ride at one time in your life, I wouldn’t recommend it now unless you’re accompanied by a child but that’s a different story. Do not miss this awesome ‘It’s a Small World…Tour Mix’ from Pheonix AZ’s DJ Fashen that features fourty eight tracks and spans hip hop, bmore, electro house and fidget with cuts from Lil Wayne, Laidback Luke, Machines Don’t Care, MSTRKRFT, DJ Sega etc plus a couple of his own productions and remixes, here’s one.

mp3: dj fashen - bam bam.

Tracklist after the jump more…

FUTURE CHAOS

13 08 2008

Tim Simenon is a legend so his upcoming return as Bomb The Bass is a welcome one but don’t expect a smiley faced acid house revival, instead long player ‘Future Chaos’ is a contemporary sythth-heavy trip through ‘electronic music with soul’ that manages to be both intimate and alien at the same time. Guest vocals come from Jon Spencer (Blues Explosion), Mark Lanegan (Screaming Trees/QOTSA), David Best (Fujiya & Miyagi), Toob and Paul Conboy. The album is out September 15th through !K7.

mp3: bomb the bass - fuzzbox ft. jon spencer.

CHROMEO REMIX

13 08 2008

It’s been way too long since Chromeo were featured on these pages and I was looking for an excuse to post them. Helpfully Techijo from Toronto’s BSBTRDGCLUB just sent over this fresh update that starts off pretty straight forward and then takes a nasty turn.

mp3: chromeo - call me up (techijo remix).

THE BUG @ RCRDLBL

13 08 2008

So ‘London Zoo’ by The Bug aka Kevin Martin has provided a big part of the summer soundtrack around these parts and RCRDLBL have the sublime non album track ‘Flying’ available for download here.

STICK UP TROUBLE

13 08 2008

Los Angeles funky foursome The 87 Stick Up Kids recently looped up and rapped over Bonde do Role’s ‘Gasolina’ with a little help from Micah James and the track then got an edit by Troublemaker. Check out a previously featured collaboration here.

mp3: bonde do role - gasolina (sk87 remix troublemaker edit).

LITTLE JINDER REMIX CONTEST

12 08 2008

‘Polyhedron’ is the title track of Stockholm singer Little Jinder’s Trouble & Bass released EP and it was mentioned previously here. The New York label recently got in touch with news of a remix contest for the track and the winning entry will feature on a soon to be released remix EP alongside reworkings by Drop The Lime, Math Head, Blackfinger, AC Slater, Goon & Koyote and more! The deadline is September 8th (the release date is October 7th) and you can check out all the details and grab the relevant parts HERE.

JACKO REMIX

12 08 2008

Despite all his subsequent issues there’s obviously no doubt that Michael Jackson is/was an immense talent and his 1973 Quincy Jones produced album ‘Off The Wall’ still gets some rotation around here when the mood takes us. Morsy from Brooklyn’s Nanachill has stuck with the disco dancing original and given the track some nice sub bass.

mp3: michael jackson - workin day & night (morsy mix).

MORE BRONX

12 08 2008

More from Munich’s schlachthofbronx, who describe themselves as ‘three guys doing straight forward ghettobassmusic’ and ‘Guata’ is some hypnotic techy afro-beat goodness. Check out a previous post here for the dubstep/bassy ’We Nah Fraid’ if you didn’t get it first time around.

mp3: schlachtofbronx - guata.

BLOSSTRADAMUS

12 08 2008

UK rockers Bloc Party seem to be taking an interesting direction with their sound of late, which is further emphasised by their latest single ‘Mercury’. The twelve inch version and instrumental are both well worth getting hold of if you like a nice combination of percussion and brass/horns and the track gets remixes from CSS and Herve, while Chicago duo Flosstradamus deliver a smooth housey rework.

mp3: bloc party - mercury (flosstradamus remix).

AGAIN AND AGAIN

12 08 2008

We’ve been banging on a fair bit about the forthcoming Roots Manuva album ‘Slime and Reason’ but only because it’s so damn good. The future single ‘Again and Again’ drops August 25th and here it gets remixed by Matt Helders from Arctic Monkeys.

mp3: roots manuva - again and again (matt helders remix).
